Giovanna Latis, architect and owner of the Milan-based Gio Latis STUDIO, started her professional career designing installations. After a period of collaboration in Paris with Mario Cucinella Architects, as head of design and lighting projects, she started a long-lasting collaboration with Michele De Lucchi, coordinating a multidisciplinary project team in the aMDL studio for architecture, restoration, interiors, temporary and permanent art installations, commercial spaces and offices. She has often been confronted with interventions on listed sites. She has always had a special interest in the relationship between art, architecture and the study of light, and creates site-specific light installations. After a fellowship on these topics at the American Academy in Rome in 2011, she began a series of projects that led her to open her own professional studio a few years later. Gio Latis STUDIO deals with projects at all scales using a team of collaborators specialised in different disciplines: architecture and public spaces, interiors, temporary and permanent art installations, light installations, design of objects and furniture for home and office, identity and art direction.
